CRISTINIA CAMPBELL PROMOTED

Robert L. Smith, President of Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. is announcing that Cristinia Campbell of New Philadelphia has been promoted the the position of Operations Coordinator at the Tuscarawas County based ambulance service.  Cristinia has been employed as a paramedic at Smith Ambulance for 11 years and has recently served as Training Officer overseeing all training activities and continuing education classes at Smith Ambulance. She has been an emergency medical technician since 1991 when she served as a volunteer with the Sherrodsville Emergency Squad.  Cristinia currently serves on the E.M.S. protocol committee at Union Hospital, is a State Certified E.M.S. Instructor and is a trained S.W.A.T Medic for the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.

In her new duties she will serve as a liaison between station managers and Chief Operating Officer Michael Mossor.  She will also work with all field personnel to assure that the highest standards of patient care are being met and may also represent Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. at area business functions and meetings.  “Our ambulance service has served the area for the past 25 years”, says Smith “and Cristinia has been an important part of our growth for the past 11 of those years.  I have confidence that she will perform her new duties well and help move our services forward during these challenging business times.”

Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. has stations in Dover, New Philadelphia and Uhrichsville and is operated by Smith Medical Transportation Systems, Inc. which also operates Smith Ambulance Service of North East Ohio, Inc. with stations in Wooster and Millersburg and Smith Ambulance of Stark-Summit, Inc. with stations in Massillon, Canton, Alliance, and Barberton.

STARK-SUMMIT AMBULANCE SERVICE

Ron Cordray, President and CEO of Stark-Summit Ambulance of Massillon and Robert. L Smith, President of Smith Ambulance of Tuscarawas County are jointly announcing that a tentative agreement has been reached whereas Smith Ambulance will purchase the assets of Stark-Summit Ambulance. “Stark-Summit Ambulance has been providing services to the area for the past 30 years and we are honored that Mr. Cordray has hand picked Smith Ambulance to continue their fine tradition” says Smith. “Ron Cordray and I have always shared the same vision of providing quality patient care with highly trained and courteous personnel and state of the art equipment and we will continue to provide the communities and the facilities we serve with unparalleled service and attention” states Smith. The new company will be Smith Ambulance of Stark-Summit, Inc.

Cordray acquired Stark Ambulance Service on April 1, 1978. In June of the same year, he partnered with Roger E. Baker and operated the company until October of 1983 with it became a corporation. Cordray became a paramedic in 1980 and spent many years in the field.  Summit Ambulance was started in December of 1995 in Barberton, Ohio.  Stark and Summit blended operations and currently operate stations in Massillon, Canton, Alliance, and Barberton.  “I am very proud to have Bob Smith taking over the company. Bob and I have always shared the same values and commitment to quality service in the many communities we serve” stated Cordray.

Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. has been serving the communities in Tuscarawas and surrounding counties since 1983. Owner and President Robert L. Smith, a paramedic with nearly 40 years of ambulance experience, separated the ambulance service from his funeral homes in 1993 after opening a station in Dover.  Smith is also a funeral director and owns the Smith Funeral Homes in Sugarcreek and Baltic. The ambulance service expanded to New Philadelphia on June 1, 1999, then opened a station in Uhrichsville, Ohio on August 17, 1999, after taking over the emergency medical services in the Twin City area.  Smith Ambulance in the primary 911 provider for one city, three villages and eight townships in Tuscarawas County and serves as a back up to many of the area emergency squads.  In June of 2002, Smith began operating Smith Ambulance of North East Ohio, Inc. with stations in Wooster and Millersburg.  In a continuing effort to provide life saving services to the rural areas, Smith Ambulance has entered into a partnership with MedFlight of Ohio to operate a medical helicopter in the region.  The medical aircraft and flight crew are stationed 24 hours per day in New Philadelphia at the municipal airport.

Mike Mossor, a paramedic and Captain with the Dover Fire Department, has been Director of Operations at Smith Ambulance for the past 10 years. He is a native of the Massillon area and began his career with Stark Ambulance. Mossor will work closely with the long time managers at Stark-Summit to assure uninterrupted service to the valued clients that have placed their trust in Stark-Summit for the past 30 years.

MEDFLIGHT OF OHIO AND SMITH AMBULANCE 

 

ANNOUNCE PERMANENT HELICOPTER BASE AT NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO

Smith Ambulance President Robert L. Smith has worked with MedFlight of Ohio President Rod Crane since February, to permanently position a medical helicopter in New Philadelphia.  Beginning in August 2007, MedFlight’s eighth 24-hour medical helicopter will be based at the New Philadelphia airport to serve the community and surrounding counties.

“We are extremely pleased to continue working with MedFlight to provide needed, life saving air medical transportation to the community. Having the resources of a helicopter and highly trained flight crew located in the area assures a rapid transport of critically injured and ill patients to trauma centers and specialty facilities” said Smith.  “MedFlight is a highly respected company and we look forward to securing a permanent partnership that will assure quality air medical services to the area for many years to come. Our communities in Tuscarawas County are blessed with quality emergency medical services, outstanding hospitals and now a permanently based medical helicopter is another tremendous asset” said Smith.

Rod Crane, of MedFlight said “We have been honored to work with Smith Ambulance for the past four months to serve the trauma and critical care helicopter needs in the region. Traditionally, we have served the region with MedFlight 4 from Coshocton for more that a decade.”

MedFlight of Ohio has been in business since 1995 and has helicopter bases in Columbus, Coshocton, Lodi, Allen Center, Wellston, McConnelsville, and recently in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Mike Mossor, Director of Operations at Smith Ambulance, will continue to work with MedFlight personnel, local 911 communications centers, and regional fire and EMS agencies to educate the community about this life saving medical resource. Furthermore, the agencies will team-up to offer safety based landing zone and value based pre-hospital education to the region.
