Beginning in August of 2007, Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. has teamed up with MedFlight of Ohio to position a medical helicopter in New Philadelphia.  This partnership will provide needed, life saving air medical transportation for Tuscarawas County and surrounding areas. This service provides highly trained flight crews to assure the rapid transport of critically injured or ill patients to the proper trauma center or other specialty facility.

MedFlight of Ohio has been serving the air medical needs of Ohio since 1995. The New Philadelphia base will make the eighth base for Medflight. They also have bases in Columbus, Coshocton, Lodi, Allen Center, Wellston, McConnelsville, and Portsmouth.
