COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION

Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. operates a 24 hour dispatch center from the administrative building at 214 W. 3rd Street, Dover, Ohio.  Ambulance calls are received, scheduled, and dispatched by trained personnel for both Smith Ambulance Service in Tuscarawas County and Smith Ambulance of North East Ohio.

In addition to ambulance dispatching, the communications center is a specialized answering center for funeral homes.  Trained telecommunicators provide telephone answering service for funeral homes throughout the State, allowing calls to be answered personally and professionally while funeral home personnel are away from the office. TRAINING DIVISION

Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. believes that highly trained employees will provide the best possible care for our patients. To that end, Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. has established it’s own training center.  This training center is the main host site used for continuing education, skills updates, and specialized classes such as ITLS, PALS, ACLS, AMLS, EVOC, and NRP. Besides all the specialized classes offered throughout the year, the Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. training center offers 2 hours of Continuing Education every month.  Skills updates are hosted at the training center monthly and are offered to all county EMS providers.

All Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. employees must undergo a 28 hour employee orientation program. The orientation program consists of a 16 hour EVOC driving class and a 12 hour program to familiarize the new employees with paper work, radio communications, maps, coverage areas, hospitals, nursing facilities, special events, community outreach and other specialized services that we provide to the Tuscarawas County community. The training center houses an extensive amount of training equipment and supplies. We are one of the main resources for providing First Aid-CPR-AED classes to businesses in Tuscarawas County.

Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. also provides CPR and first aid training to the public.  We offer American Heart Association classes: BLS, BLSHCP, Friends and Family CPR, Adult First Aid, Pediatric First Aid with 2-year certifications.  We have available 25 adult/child CPR mannequins, 10 infant CPR mannequins, 3 adult ACLS mannequins, 2 infant ACLS mannequins, and 2 AED trainers.  Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. employs 14 AHA certified instructors.

Cristinia Campbell, EMT-P EMSI, is our Training Center Coordinator.  She has been an EMS instructor for the State of Ohio for 3 years and a special topics instructor for the State of Ohio for 12 years before that. She has been our training coordinator for 6 years. As our training coordinator and Quality Assurance person, she also coordinates the rider programs that Smith Ambulance Service, Inc. participates in for new EMT’s and Paramedics with Buckeye Career Center, Aultman Hospital Paramedic Program, and Stark State College EMS program. Cristinia has instructor status for: First Responder, Basic MET, Intermediate EMT, Paramedic EMT, ITLS, PALS, ACLS, and all AHA classes.

BILLING DIVISION

Smith Ambulance Billing is a full service billing and consulting service for paid and volunteer Fire Departments and Private Ambulance Companies. We provide high quality billing services with competitive pricing! Our staff of dedicated, highly trained professionals have over 23 years experience in the EMS billing industry.  We receive continuous education and updates in Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, Insurance, and Workers Compensation.  We also have the ability to electronically file claims, as well as doing EMS reporting to the state.  For inquires, call our billing manager Mindy Paskiet at 330-602-5180 or mindyp@smithambulance.com
